I recently received the 'article' below detailing an alternative history of the American Civil War. While I don't think it approaches the degree of plausibility required for the writing of alternative history, it did get me thinking about adding a section to the website for this sort of thing. After all, some historians (especially those of the military) have made names for themselves by investigating 'What if?' scenarios.
I would be interested in your opinions, both on the new section and on the contribution I have pasted below.
Thanks,
Ben

Period: Civil war
During the War for Southern Independence, Jefferson Davis allows slaves to enlist in the military in exchange for their freedome. The president also convinces Britian to assist them greatly on the battle front. Stonewall Jackson's death was somehow avoided and he joined Robert E. Lee, and pickett at Gettysburg. With the addition of English, and black troops the confederate army's numbers increase, and the battle turns in favor of the south, Witnessing the great victory, England recognizes the Confederacy as a sovereign nation. It is no longer a "cival War" and Lincoln is presured into surrendering.
Once the war is won, the confederacy is assisted by the British Government in recovering. The state of Indian Naion (of Oklahoma) is added into the Confederacy, the Confederates and English designe a new navy, The Grand Navy, and produce a line of submarines in honor of the C.S.S. Hunley. The Confederacy expand over the next couple of years claiming New mexico, and Arizona. The years go by until we reach the first World War, tough nutrul, the C.S. army douse fight, and opon the second world war the confederacy's nuclear discoveries help the allies win the war.
In the 50s Slavery was finally abolished by all states in the Confederacy. After WWII ended the Cold War sprung out, but this time it was between Russia and the Conferacy/United States. The Confederacy happened to be the first to land on the moon, and they were responsible for making the hydrogen bomb, but during the war the confederacy lay low until both the U.S.S.R. and the U.S.A. went bankrupt. The Confederacy (never belonging to the United Nations anyway) seized the front on U.S. borders, The Grand Navy landed and literally took Washington D.C. hostage unless all U.S. nukes were either destroyed or handed over to the Confederacy. the Confederacy was declared the most powerful nation in the world but stayed also one of the simpilists. The Confederacy's racism was not near as bad as America's is today, most Blacks migrated to New Mexico, The indians were certainly treated better (having their own national state). and racism was not a big factor. The plantation owner is still as wealthy as he was (back before the abolishmnet of slaves in real history), the hillbillies still live in the woods not bothered by the political stressfull world, and the simple country folk of the land could rest easy without being critized of ignorance or politically incorrectness. Everything is good.
